Accessibility Statement...

First of all, we would like to thank the fellow members over at the forums of IWDP for their, as always, invaluable help with accessibility. Because of this we are pleased to say that delicatadesigns.co.uk is accessible and available to as many people as possible..

delicatadesigns.co.uk is built using valid XHTML 1.0 strict with full vaild CSS as per the W3C validation service.

Images and Navigation

All images within this website contain descriptive alt and title attribute tags to assist non visual readers. Links also contain title tags, thus aiding navigation.

delicatadesigns.co.uk contains 'Skip' links, these can be seen by tabbing through the links or read by screen readers - it is not visible all the time. Skip links give you the option to skip to the main content of the page or to the global navigation. Skip links are available on every page within this Web site.

We have tried to expand on acronym's thoughout delicatadesigns.co.uk, these are viewed as a dashed underline, if you hover over them you will see the expanded version appear.

Access Keys

After careful consideration, it was decided not to include Access keys within delicatadesigns.co.uk. This is primarily due to:

• the lack of browser support
• lack of industry standardisation of Access keys
• lack of general awareness
• and potential conflicts with assistive technologies; ironically the very items they were initially designed to aid.

Access keys will be replaced in WCAG 2.0 with Access attributes; this is a long way down the road and not yet supported. We have also decided not to use tab index, as links are coded in a logical tabbing order.

Validation and Testing

This site has been tested for accessibilty in Cynthia Says Portal and passes automated validation Standards 508 and WCAG - Priority 1,2,3. Also tested on Watchfire WebXACT with no errors.

Both these tests require a judgement on the interpretation of the checkpoints, which have been reviewed and we believe this site is in compliance with the guidelines.
